What Is Caviar Bar And Where To Find It In Miami

March 18, 2019

Eating caviar doesn’t have to be a black-tie affair. Сaviar bars are making this delicacy reachable.

Caviar: It is salted roe of sturgeon (Beluga, Kaluga, Osetra, Sevruga, Sterlet, Hackleback, Siberian Sturgeon, White Sturgeon) and non-sturgeon (Paddlefish, Bowfin, Whitefish, Lumpfish, Capelin, Botarga, Stromluga, Herring) fish.

So it is just roe and salt. If you find some other components in it, be sure it is not real caviar.

As Heritage executive chef and president Guy W. Meikle says: “Fish eggs don’t have to be scary. In fact, they should be fun. His lived-in, light-filled space is devoid of ornate chandeliers, white tablecloths, and unpronounceable menu items (heck, you can even order curly fries à la carte).

Сommonly The menu of caviar bar includes an assortment of 10-12 types of caviar that time to time has changed. Pricing starts at $10 per gram and maxes out at about $160. Whatever your budget, you don’t need a special occasion to enjoy caviar – the main idea of caviar bar. “There’s no trick to it,” says Meikle. “You get it, you enjoy it, and you decide if it’s going to be part of your life moving forward.” You don’t be shy in the way to ask your server for a piece of advice (the staff is usually trained on this matter) and maybe start from simple dishes like

  • Caviar Served with Crème Fraiche & Russian Blini

or

  • SEAFOOD TOWERS (oysters, shrimp cocktail, crab legs and caviar)

Typical accompaniments are

  • Russian blinis,

  • crème fraîche,

  • unsalted butter with toasts,

and of course, Сhampagne.

How to try it correctly - Push it to the top of your mouth and press it gently until the eggs pop. In this way, you can feel the true flavor.

If you want to celebrate a special occasion—you can try other gourmet food that commonly takes place in caviar bars – salads with tuna or smoked salmon, different plates - Burrata & Prosciutto di Parma, Foie Gras Platter,  Spanish Jamon Serrano, cornichons & black truffle butter platter.

So where you can go to try caviar in Miami? Here are some good places

Caviar Russe (Seafood, Salad, Live/Raw Food)

“This place is great. I really love their happy hour special where you get 50 grams of caviar and a whole bottle of champagne for only $100. What’s not to love about that?

Aside from their power hour, the food is great. They don’t have a large selection, but what they do make is really good. You can choose a 5-course meal that the chef will pick for you, or a 3 course where you pick what dishes you’d like.

I really loved their foie gras and oyster dishes. Those had to be my favorites. I definitely want to come back for the happy hour and to try the few dishes that I haven’t tried yet. “

Mignonette (American (New), Seafood, Live/Raw Food)

«Awesome happy hour, but come early as they only do it at the bar and there are only 10 seats top at the bar! We arrived around 5:45 and stood around the bar like hawks until two gentlemen finally left at 6:30; thankfully happy hour went until 7! Once seated, we started with a few glasses of wine, $9 during happy hour, eh a bit pricey for California wine, but whatever. Then we ordered some lobster deviled eggs ($2/each), a dozen oysters ($2/each during HH), a few plates of delicious veggies ($4 HH), and mussels in red sauce ($11).

The thing I liked most about this place is the open kitchen. We sat and watched them chuck oysters, plate caviar dishes, and get the plates ready for service, I love that.”
